About The Position

Join WSP as an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer in our Ground Engineering and Materials team based in Whitehorse, YT. This role blends hands-on fieldwork with office-based analysis and design, supporting a diverse portfolio of geotechnical projects across the Yukon and northern British Columbia. You’ll collaborate with technical experts, contribute to major northern infrastructure initiatives, and play a key role in advancing our regional project delivery. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng. with Engineers Yukon (or transferable from another Canadian regulator).
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Geotechnical or Geological Engineer.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and willingness to work on project sites as required.
  • Solid intermediate-level consulting experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong analytical abilities with proven project management capability.
  • Experience delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute field programs including drilling, test pitting, in situ testing, and construction monitoring.
  • Analyze geotechnical data to develop practical and reliable design recommendations.
  • Prepare clear, defensible technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute geotechnical expertise to multidisciplinary teams on impactful infrastructure projects.
  • Mentor junior staff in field practices, analysis methods, and safety standards.
  • Build trusted client relationships through responsive and high-quality engineering support.
