Intermediate Estimator

About The Position

CDM Smith is seeking an Intermediate Estimator to join their team. This role involves producing accurate quantity and material take-offs by reviewing plans, specifications, and instructions for assigned areas for estimate preparation. The Intermediate Estimator will enter quantity take-offs and material unit pricings, apply appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS), and coordinate estimate material pricing from vendors and other sources. They will also develop pricing for basic project elements, contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing, and contribute to the preparation of key estimating deliverables. Additionally, this role supports conceptual estimating efforts, including the development of basic models for review by senior personnel, and develops budgets and purchasing plans with minimal oversight. The Intermediate Estimator will coordinate the flow of documents during estimate preparation and perform administrative logging of estimates, along with other required duties.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings and specifications and identify missing elements during design development.
  • Solid multi-tasking skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong personal computer skills with some use of Estimating and On-Screen digitizing software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
