About The Position

Dillon’s Contaminant Assessment & Management Discipline is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Professional (Environmental Engineer and/or Geoscientist OR Environmental Engineering Technician) to fill a new vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. Requirements

  • A degree and/or diploma in Engineering, Geology, Geoscience, or Environmental Science or a related environmental discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental consulting will be an asset.
  • Ability to collect field data according to provincial and/or federal requirements.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Versatile, adaptable, and willing to conduct a variety of tasks.
  • Comfortable with use and operation of a 4X4 truck in an off-road environment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of general construction practices and environmental mitigation measures.
  • Experience in the collection of biological and physical field data.
  • Proficient in data entry, data compilation and the management of databases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the writing of technical reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility to register as a P.Eng., or P.Geo will be an asset.
  • Experience in conducting environmental baseline programs, environmental impact assessments and environmental site assessments would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete field programs for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, soil/groundwater/surface water/sediment/soil vapour sampling programs, and contaminated site remediation projects.
  • Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, among others in paper and digital formats (as required).
  • Support environmental monitoring tasks on construction and industrial sites.
  • Contribute with preparation of environmental site assessment reports, including: compilation and analysis of data, borehole logs and test pit logs.
  • Assist with designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific equipment.
  • Field Readiness: Fully prepared for extended provincial travel and multi-week deployments.
  • Operational Flexibility: Available for significant overtime and irregular schedules during peak field seasons.
  • Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision.
  • Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures.
  • Provide assistance to project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.), with the opportunity develop into a Project Manager.
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
