About The Position

The Intermediate Electrical Engineer (Traffic Signal) is responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of traffic signal and roadway lighting systems. This role involves preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with municipal and provincial standards. The Intermediate Electrical Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, assists in project coordination, and participates in field reviews and inspections. The position also contributes to problem-solving, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives, delivering reliable and efficient traffic signal solutions that meet client and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required, in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing and managing one or more of the following systems: Traffic Signal Design, Highway Lighting Design
  • Strong understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including CEC and other local and international standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered with PEO will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, and other electrical design software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Familiarity with airport security systems, control systems, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of electrical systems for Infrastructure projects, including Traffic signal and highway lighting.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and reports in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into larger projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, local codes, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in client and project meetings, providing valuable input and insights.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Electrical department through the review and development of standards and templates.
