About The Position

CIMA+ is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings team in Grande Prairie. This role involves contributing to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a wide variety of building projects across Northern Alberta. The position offers a blend of technical design, project coordination, and field engagement, including site visits and construction support. The role is part of a hybrid work model with flexible work hours, allowing for work from home and in the Grande Prairie AB office. Requirements

  • Eligible for membership with APEGA – P.Eng. or P.L.Eng.
  • Over 6 years' experience in electrical engineering in the buildings sector
  • Demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is required
  • Valid Canadian drivers licence with access to transportation for site reviews and inspections
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in the English language

  • Experience mentoring junior technical staff is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for buildings including lighting, power distribution, communications, security, and fire alarm systems
  • Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and models using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Perform electrical design calculations and assist with equipment selection and system layouts
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to review existing conditions and support construction activities
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Support proposal preparation and contribute to project planning activities
  • Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities
  • Assist in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the development of the local engineering team
  • Directly engage with clients to understand project needs and maintain strong business relationships
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the Grande Prairie Buildings practice
