About The Position

The City of Anaheim is seeking a team-oriented, dynamic, and customer-focused Part-Time Intermediate Clerk to support the Planning and Building Department. This position plays a key role in providing professional, timely, and accurate service to the public, applicants, contractors, and internal staff. The ideal candidate will have journey-level clerical experience performing a full range of office support duties in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include maintaining schedules and calendars, operating a multi-line phone system with a high volume of inquiries, and providing front counter and in-person assistance to the public. Candidates should have experience supporting managers and staff, strong proficiency in computerized business databases for data entry and report generation, and prior clerical experience in a public sector setting. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred. Highly desirable qualifications include prior public sector experience, particularly in a municipal environment, as well as experience with code enforcement, building or urban planning, municipal building permits, planning services, business licensing, and public counter operations. This is a part-time position, typically averaging 20-30 hours per week. A minimum number of hours is not guaranteed. Applicants are encouraged to apply early. Requirements

  • Varied journey level clerical work experience.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, and computer equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and procedures of filing and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of customer service.
  • Knowledge of principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
  • Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to type and/or enter data on a computer at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Maintain schedules and calendars.
