About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer for remote work based out of its Oak Ridge, Tennessee office. The engineer designs, develops, tests, and oversees construction and maintenance of infrastructure, including safety- and non-safety-related structures for nuclear and commercial projects. The role works with mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams to coordinate structural designs and layouts. The position applies engineering judgment, industry practices, regulatory guidance, codes, and standards to ensure compliant designs. Work includes engineering calculations using traditional methods or finite element analysis (FEA), such as foundation and structural-frame analyses. The engineer develops and reviews layout plans, foundation and steelwork details, architectural features, and designs for containment, reactor buildings, and support systems using reinforced concrete, steel, and composite or advanced materials. The engineer assists with design documents and plant modifications, coordinates with designers, supports engineering analysis and resolution of equipment and system problems, and applies relevant design criteria, procedures, codes, and site safety and licensing bases. The role contributes to multidisciplinary project teams, checks design media for accuracy, manages assigned schedules and deliverables, recommends design improvements, and supports installation and testing of site systems and components. The engineer receives guidance from more senior engineers and performs other duties as assigned.
