About The Position

WSP USA is seeking an Intermediate Civil & Earthworks Drafter for their US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team in the Tucson, AZ office. This role involves providing technical design and CADD support on projects within the mining, planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services business lines. The position requires independent work or work under general to minimal supervision, contributing to the development of designs and specifications. The drafter will generate accurate deliverables, ensuring precision and diligence in meeting industry standards. The role is part of the global mining initiative and contributes to civil and geotechnical engineering projects.

Requirements

Associates degree from accredited Technical School or College in CADD/Engineering technology, or equivalent required
5 years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD 2024 or newer, prioritizing the use of advanced and efficient tools and workflows within these platforms.
Key competencies include working with external references, annotative objects, sheet sets.
Demonstrates a strong understanding of drafting and design support principles, practices, processes, methods, and techniques.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication abilities, effectively, both verbally and in writing, conveying ideas in a clear and professional manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Travel may be necessary at times, contingent upon the requirements of individual projects. Which may include working in remote settings at project locations, for short durations.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple projects/tasks and respond to the needs of several people.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3d 2024 or newer, with knowledge of surfaces, alignments, profiles, COGO points, data shortcuts, and other related functions, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Create, modify, and develop drawing packages (plans, profiles, sections, details, etc.), figures, and sketches, primarily in civil design.
Ensure quality assurance in drafting and design plans by adhering to company CADD standards, proper filing protocols, and established workflows.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to team approach and outcomes.
Engage with key project stakeholders to understand constraints and identify opportunities for innovative design.
Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from physical work sites, surveys, concepts, blueprints, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities.
Under general supervision, use Autodesk Civil 3D to assist with basic design details and prepare drawings that require a high degree of precision.
Provide technical drafting and design assistance that accounts for proper illustration, fit, form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance, and quantity calculations, while ensuring the construction and maintainability of designs according to design standard specifications.
Carry out assigned project design work as part of an integral team adhering to company, technical, and commercial standards.
Manage the production of multiple drawings and multiple projects simultaneously.
Assist with verifying calculations, design, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any issues or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
