About The Position

Townsen Memorial is hiring for a Full-Time Days Intermediate Care Unit Nurse to join our team in our Houston TX 77072 location! The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a designated group of patients in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards. The IMCU RN provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to patients who require more frequent monitoring and nursing intervention, but who are not critical enough to require intensive care.

Requirements

Associates Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
One (1) year of experience in medical-surgical telemetry or intermediate care unit (IMCU)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified
Demonstrated EKG competency within (60) days of hire
Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills.
Strong clinical reasoning and ability to anticipate complications and act quickly.
Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making in high-stress, time-sensitive situations.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently.
Effective and professional communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer skills.
Proficient in telemetry monitoring, recognizing arrhythmias, and initiating appropriate nursing interventions.
Ability to safely handle rapidly changing patient conditions and initiate emergency response protocols.
Familiarity with intermediate care nursing principles, including step-down and telemetry-level care.

Responsibilities

Deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to a variety of complex medical and post-surgical patients.
Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen levels, and neurological status.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case management.
Recognize and respond to early signs of patient deterioration.
Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and post-discharge care.
Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and quality standards.
Participate in continuing education and professional development.
Perform other related tasks as needed.
