About The Position

This position is directly responsible for machining quality components to stated specifications and protecting machine tools from damage. It requires a high degree of independent thinking, attention to detail, and resourcefulness to translate specifications into component requirements and apply best practices effectively. The role involves working under limited supervision, following instructions, and adhering to QAP documentation. The machinist will be responsible for set-up documentation, utilizing and explaining fixturing and machine offsets, and performing autonomous maintenance. Accuracy of machined components is essential, along with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. A general understanding and application of basic Lean Methodology is also expected.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Two plus years previous machining experience.
  • Previous inspection experience.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Good Problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good organization, interpersonal, and interaction skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with a basic understanding of error proofing.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to unplanned events and changing priorities.
  • Willingness to receive on the job training.
  • Understanding of and ability to train on 5S principles.
  • Advanced understanding of how to read and use measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read programs and perform basic editing.
  • Proficient in running machines such as a saw, basic mills, and two-axis lathes.

Responsibilities

  • Machining quality components to stated specifications.
  • Protecting machine tools from damage caused by “Crashes.”
  • Retrieving, understanding, and adhering to QAP documentation.
  • Using and setting up technical tools and instruments.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, technical specifications, and CMM reports.
  • Identifying all deviations in material requirements.
  • Being responsible and accountable for set-up documentation (programs).
  • Utilizing and providing basic explanations of fixturing and machine offsets.
  • Building complex tools.
  • Performing autonomous maintenance.
  • Ensuring quality work independently.
  • Meeting deadlines and managing priorities.
  • Applying basic Lean Methodology.
  • Training entry-level machinists.
