About The Position

Northland Properties is seeking an Interior Painter to join their construction team. The painter will report to the foreman and be responsible for ensuring all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This role requires efficient and effective work to meet project specifications and timelines, with strong communication skills to maintain high standards of quality.

Requirements

  • 2 years of working experience as a Painter
  • Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms
  • Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
  • Possesses and maintains necessary tools, equipment, and protective gear.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with health & safety regulations, procedures and company policies.
  • Adheres to project specifications and timelines ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Work in conjunction with crew members to complete field projects or tasks.
  • Displays high levels of motivation, energy, and forward-thinking.
  • Listens attentively and follows instructions carefully.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting, and steam-cleaning as necessary.
  • Remove old wallpaper and loose paint using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Repair cracks and holes in walls, ceilings, and other surfaces using spackle, putty, and other materials.
  • Sandpaper and apply sealer to surfaces as needed to ensure a smooth and even finish.
  • Read specifications to determine quantities of materials required.
  • Select and mix paint colours, as well as thinning and adjust the consistency of paint to obtain desired colour and texture.
  • Apply paint to surfaces using rollers, sprayers, or other appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring even coverage and clean edges.
  • Measure, cut and apply wallpaper and fabric to walls.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other tools and materials such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, metal coating or fire retardant.
  • Assemble and erect scaffolding and swing gates.
  • Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties.
  • Performs other duties as required.
