About The Position

Skandinavia Contemporary Interiors is an Austin tradition since 1971, selling high-quality furniture, accessories, and artwork from around the world. We are seeking a full-time home furnishing sales/interior designer who is outgoing, enthusiastic, and has a passion for design and quality. This role involves helping customers create the perfect feel and atmosphere in their homes while maintaining high customer service standards at our South Austin location.

Requirements

  • Proven sales record.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and patience backed by an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Must have excellent listening skills and the ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven retail sales/customer service –furniture experience and background in interior design strongly preferred.
  • High-end apparel and luxury retail sales experience considered.
  • Exceptional sales and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work well in a team concept and on your own.
  • Optimistic, outgoing and an energetic personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take a consultative selling approach to building customer relationships as you help prospective buyer's select home furnishing pieces that best suit their needs.
  • Provide design services in showroom for furniture, accessories and rug selection including finish, color customization and style options.
  • Generate sales as a result of in-home and in-store consultations.
  • Develop and maintain expert product knowledge on all of our merchandise.
  • Demonstrate design skills, professional communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Maintain the appearance of the store at all times.
  • Attend and participate in weekly store meetings and individual meetings.
  • Develop expert knowledge of our procedures and computer systems.
  • Collaborate on posts for social media.
