About The Position

Lawrence Group is seeking an Interior Designer with 7-10 years of professional experience to join our St. Louis Higher Education team in a full-time position. The team specializes in collaborating with clients to develop innovative, active learning environments, student collaboration, hubs, specialized labs among other academic spaces to inspire and meet our client’s needs. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the design team to develop innovative and appropriate design solutions on higher education projects, creating overall design concepts from inception to completion, including research, planning, programming, development of project presentations for client and business development opportunities, providing finish material selection/specifications, construction document through construction administration. This candidate will also provide mentorship and creative direction to the design team. Having multiple roles contributing as a member of a larger design team and at other times, acting as the primary design interface with clients and consultants.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture from an accredited institution.
7-10 years of professional experience.
Higher Education Project experience preferred (minimum 5 years in a commercial design/architecture firm)
Basic/entry level Project Management skills including project schedules, workload schedules, staff mentorship and oversite
Demonstrated ability to manage experience level appropriate projects from Concept → Project Completion
Proficiency in Revit, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong knowledge of commercial building construction, interior detailing, building systems, finish materials, furniture integration, and applicable building codes.
Experience documenting existing conditions, field verification, applying building codes, and supporting projects through Construction Administration.
Excellent technical production, organization, communication, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

NCIDQ certification, or actively pursuing licensure, preferred.
Business Development experience not required but preferred

Responsibilities

Produce complete, accurate interior construction document packages utilizing Revit and BIM 360, including: Interior floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans and finish schedules, interior elevations and enlarged plans, construction details, furniture plans, specifications, and documentation.
Support and assist architectural, consultant information within BIM models while maintaining project quality and documentation standards.
Prepare finish, furniture, and material documentation and assist with furniture planning, specification, coordination.
Participate in quality control reviews, implement redline revisions, and maintain project documentation throughout the design and construction process.
Support Construction Administration through RFIs, ASIs, submittal and shop drawing reviews, field observations, and coordination with contractors and consultants.
Assist Project Managers and Senior Designers with production schedules, workload planning, project coordination, and technical problem-solving.
Support design presentations through finish selections, renderings, and visualization materials as needed.
Deliver accurate, coordinated construction documents with exceptional attention to detail.
Effectively manage multiple assignments while meeting project schedules and quality standards.
Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, communicate effectively with project teams, and contribute to efficient project delivery.
Embody a growth mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and be a team member.
