About The Position

The Interior Designer II is responsible for design and presentation drafting as well as planning, designing, and furnishing the interiors of various public, commercial, and industrial buildings according to the needs of clients. This role involves performing field verification of existing spaces, researching interior products, and applying established interior design standards. The designer will participate in all phases of design projects, from programming to construction administration, and work closely with clients to define project requirements and develop design concepts. Responsibilities include creating and presenting design concepts, producing construction documents and specifications, managing budgets, and coordinating interior graphics and signage. The role also involves maintaining resource materials, meeting with industry representatives, and supporting business development activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field
Three (3) years related experience in a professional environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software
Familiarity with Adobe software
Experience with computer-aided industrial design (CAID) software
Good aesthetic judgment with an appreciation of balance, proportion, and color
Excellent time management skills
Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities
Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

Perform field verification of existing spaces and documentation as needed.
Research interior products, furniture, and materials.
Apply established interior design standards in daily work, including building finishes, fixtures, accessories, window treatments, artwork, furniture, plants, and related items.
Participate in all phases of design projects, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Work with clients to define project requirements and develop design criteria.
Create and present interior design concepts in response to client needs.
Design, sketch, and provide drawings — by hand or computer-aided design (CAD) software — including options for layout and workflow, furniture placement, and equipment locations.
Refine design to client's satisfaction and present complete interior design concepts.
Produce specifications for construction elements, furnishings, and cost estimates.
Produce construction documents.
Perform construction administration.
Prepare and maintain design schedules.
Manage design budgets and cost control.
Design, develop, and coordinate interior graphics and signage packages.
Formulate designs that are practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes.
Work closely with project manager to ensure client needs are met.
Maintain resource materials and library.
Meet with industry representatives regarding new and updated products.
Order samples from representatives and manufacturers.
Support business development activities as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
