About The Position

As the Interior Designer, you’ll lead and execute the endtoend design vision for acquisitions, renovations, and special projects across a multimilliondollar portfolio of multifamily apartment communities. You’ll translate creative concepts into cohesive, buildable, and brandaligned environments that elevate both resident experience and asset value.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in high‑end residential or hospitality environments
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience using Revit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Decorative Arts, or a related field
  • Strong vendor, supplier, and trade partner network
  • Deep understanding of measurements and site‑specific dimensions
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Proven project management and organizational capabilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Bluebeam; ability to hand sketch
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%

Responsibilities

  • Develop renovation and reconfiguration concepts that optimize unit layouts, functionality, and flow
  • Design model units, including furniture selection, purchasing, budget management, delivery coordination, installation oversight, and Care Binder creation
  • Partner with Investments, Cortland Build, Architecture, and external vendors to ensure design intent is consistent across interiors and exteriors
  • Review shop drawings and submittals to verify alignment with approved design intent
  • Lead furniture selection, contracts, budget tracking, and installation across projects
  • Collaborate with in‑house landscape architects to set sitewide design direction and approve finish selections
  • Select finishes and materials that reflect current and emerging design trends
  • Establish and communicate a clear design narrative to ensure cohesive, on‑brand environments
  • Collaborate with Marketing to align design direction with branding, signage, logos, and color palettes
  • Develop interior drawings, millwork details, building guidelines, and MEP specifications
  • Partner with pool designers to define design direction and select all finish materials
  • Create a cohesive design vision for fitness centers, including layout review and coordination with equipment plans
  • Coordinate, review, and maintain design documentation across varying scopes of work
  • Partner with Preconstruction to align design intent with cost, scope, and budget targets
  • Develop and manage project schedules for construction and furniture delivery/install
  • Track budgets and progressive pricing to ensure projects remain on target financially
  • Collaborate with Cortland Build and Architecture teams to produce comprehensive construction documents
