The consultant will conduct a comprehensive assessment of UNICEF Lebanon's office space with the objective of enhancing the overall workplace environment, improving space utilization, and promoting fairness and transparency in workspace allocation across sections. Working closely with the Operations Section, the Staff Association, and designated focal points, the consultant will assess the current office layout, identify opportunities for improvement, and consult with stakeholders to understand functional needs, staff well-being considerations, and operational requirements. Based on the assessment, the consultant will develop practical design options that optimize the use of available space while improving collaboration, privacy, accessibility, comfort, and employee experience. The proposed solutions should balance functionality, cost-effectiveness, and future organizational needs, and where feasible, incorporate shared wellbeing spaces such as a cafeteria area, meditation/wellness room, and child-friendly room. The assignment will culminate in a recommended office layout supported by implementation guidance and a detailed cost estimate to facilitate future decision-making and phased implementation. The purpose of the assignment is to engage an experienced Interior Architect to independently assess UNICEF Lebanon's office premises and develop practical, equitable, and cost-effective recommendations that optimize workspace utilization, enhance staff wellbeing and collaboration, and support a fair distribution of office space across sections while considering current and future operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in interior architecture, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in interior architecture is required. A degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or another closely related field may be accepted where accompanied by demonstrated experience in workplace planning and office space optimization.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in workplace planning, office space optimization, interior architecture, or corporate office design.
  • Demonstrated experience in office space planning, workplace assessments, stakeholder consultations, preparation of layout drawings and concept designs, and cost estimation.
  • English and Arabic.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with corporate, institutional, or UN/international organization office projects is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a physical assessment for UNICEF offices on both floors and the roof regarding the space use
  • Identify key workplace comfort concerns (acoustic conditions, privacy, lighting, thermal comfort, ...Etc)
  • Submit a concise Assessment Report summarizing findings, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Summarize staff needs and comfort priorities.
  • Develop zoning strategies to enhance functionality.
  • Provide, minimum, two options of adjustments of use of the office
  • Option one: minimal adjustments / quick improvements, with cost estimate.
  • Option two: moderate work required with potential cost
  • And in both options, consider within possible that 'basics' are incorporated (i.e. cafeteria space, meditation room, child friendly room). List of staff and sections to be provided by UNICEF.
  • Submit concept layouts, zoning diagrams, and mood boards/ material palettes where needed.
  • Submit the refined selected option including final layout drawings, design brief, and specifications.
  • Provide the implementation approach highlighting quick wins and high-impact improvements.
  • Provide a detailed cost estimate and quotation for the selected option by UNICEF.
