About The Position

The Interim Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, promoting, and delivering a variety of recreational programs that reflect the interests and needs of the community. This role oversees court bookings, coordinates sports and leisure activities, and ensures the efficient and effective operation of all recreational services. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in recreation program coordination or a similar role.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Learn and apply rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn how to use enterprise software related to membership and club facilities management.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality between staff, residents, guests, customers, vendors, and information processed through the work environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of office software programs including Windows, Microsoft office (Word and Excel).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check is required.
  • Must maintain professional conduct and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented and stable work environment.
  • Employees who drive on company property must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license throughout their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling and booking of tennis, pickleball, and other sports courts.
  • Ensure courts are well-maintained and that equipment is in good condition.
  • Resolve conflicts or issues related to court bookings.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate sports, fitness, leisure, and recreational programs.
  • Develop and implement new programs to meet member interests and needs.
  • Organize and manage special events, tournaments, leagues, and trips.
  • Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and departments to ensure successful events.
  • Recruit and manage instructors for fee-based programs; verify credentials, certifications, and insurance requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate events and programs to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain an accurate calendar of scheduled events.
  • Act as a point of contact for members regarding recreational activities.
  • Promote participation through marketing and communication efforts.
  • Collect and respond to member feedback to enhance offerings.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members.
  • Prepare reports on participation, financial performance, and program impact.
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitor expenses to stay within allocated budgets.
  • Work closely with Recreation Manager, Assistant General Managers, and other departments, including maintenance, marketing, and member services.
  • Ensure customer service desk is staffed, informed, and able to field questions; provide backup coverage when needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
  • Supervise part-time staff, volunteers, and contractors as needed.
  • Review and approve employee payroll time and vacation requests in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate awareness of workplace safety practices and support organizational efforts to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
