The Interim Director of Nursing will assist in developing and practicing the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies, and standards of the Patient Care Services Department and the hospital. This role involves planning and recommending new facilities or equipment, serving on committees related to nursing care, and supporting educational programs for staff development. The position also includes preparing master schedules for nursing units, participating in key management meetings in the absence of the CAO, and ensuring the development of patient care plans, discharge planning, and grievance resolution. The Director will also introduce new techniques and equipment, manage the department's operational, budgetary, and financial activities, and ensure timely submission of budgets and capital equipment requests. A cost-conscious approach to equipment and supply purchases is expected, along with the development and implementation of new policies and programs. Resource allocation for staffing and productivity goals, collaboration with Human Resources for recruitment and employee relations, and fostering teamwork and open communication are key aspects. Additionally, the role involves establishing and submitting a departmental Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Program.
