About The Position

Works under the general supervision of the Traffic Signal Maintenance and Construction Manager in monitoring, maintaining, and repairing the fiber optic communication network associated with the Intelligent Transportation System. Monitors, diagnoses, and repairs equipment and components associated with the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in house or in the field, as required. Codes, uploads/downloads, and programs traffic signal controller data, and software as directed by management. Plans maintenance and repair work schedules for all ITS communication infrastructure, devices, cameras, and other related equipment. Configures and troubleshoots ITS communication equipment from various locations. Monitors e-mail requests to locate existing signal system infrastructure. Locates and marks existing signal system infrastructure for construction activity. Reviews and approval recommendations to management for plans, specifications, and equipment submittal packets for future ITS work. Creates, integrates, and prepares signal system reports and other correspondence by utilizing various computer applications. Communicates and shares traffic data and system status with various agencies as requested. Retrieves traffic data from field devices, as needed. Performs inspection work for the installation of new ITS equipment as needed. Travels to various work sites/locations throughout the city for repairs, maintenance, inspection, and examination of ITS equipment. Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with management, staff members, contractors, agencies, and general public on a variety of traffic issues and concerns. Provides support to Traffic Management Center (TMC) staff and management personnel as requested.
