About The Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Intelligence Analyst Senior in our Intelligence Operations Directorate (IOD) Virginia Fusion Center (VFC) located in Salem, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to: Supporting VSP law enforcement activity in Division VI by conducting in-depth analysis of information and research in support of active criminal investigations. Engaging and facilitating in the exchange of criminal and terrorist related information and intelligence between the VFC and all law enforcement or homeland security agencies in the VSP Division VI region. Analyzing multi-faceted criminal data to show methods, trends, and patterns relating to the Division VI region. Compiling reports and undertaking projects relating to criminal and terrorist activity as needed. Conducting database checks and compiling results to respond to requests for information in a timely, efficient manner. Compiling reports and projects relating to criminal activity and provide assistance for special projects in the VFC as needed. Analyzing cellular or other mobile device data in support of criminal investigations as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of research and analysis techniques.
  • Working knowledge of current Structured Analytic Techniques used in intelligence analysis.
  • Intermediate skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, summarize, interpret and communicate information and technical data orally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to diverse information sets and to produce logic-based analysis and recommendations on probable and potential trends and event outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of municipal, State, and federal personnel and representatives of external agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to work semi-independently, establish priorities, and achieve high level results with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to create and provide intelligence briefings for all levels of personnel.
  • Experience in government, business, or criminal justice to include analytical experience and criminal analytical training.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain federal security clearance.
  • Requires three-year commitment to the Virginia Fusion Center and ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of information technology-based analysis platforms and software to produce one or more of the following: Geographic Information System (GIS) based maps, text, tables, graphs, and charts is preferred.
  • Public safety experience or other broad scope of governmental experience preferred.
