About The Position

The Intellectual Asset Protection Manager will provide leadership, expertise, and practical support for our Intellectual Asset Protection and Information Security efforts across all Advanced Optics manufacturing plants. The person in this role will be responsible for establishing division-wide IAP and IS standards and governance processes that are aligned with the Corporation and will be responsible for managing IAP projects/programs deployment, policies and procedures are in place while also supervising IAP execution across AO locations. The IAP Manager will partner with technology and engineering teams during the introduction and deployment of new technologies to protect Corning IP and trade secrets to ensure that all intellectual asset protection policies/procedures, and best practices are followed during the design, engineering, construction, process startup phases and normal operations. The role requires working within a complex manufacturing structure at a plant, division, and corporate level. It involves influencing sustainable cultural change to protect our sensitive information at all levels of the organization. Accomplishing these goals requires working in a matrix organizational structure with plant leadership/IS councils, Corporate IS, Security, IT, and HR teams to address issues and drive improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS – Engineering, Information Security, IT Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of desired industry experience.
  • Experience working in a role related to information or trade secret protection/security
  • Experience in an industrial environment, manufacturing plants, or manufacturing support
  • Familiarity with information technology tools for trade secret protection, CISSP certification will be a plus
  • Demonstrated manufacturing, government or military experiences in developing and deploying Information Security policies and associated tactical plans to deliver targeted results.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing experience on a global basis – work experience in multiple plant environments and cultures.
  • Leadership and influencing, across organization & functional boundaries for large capital project
  • Decision making and facilitation skills, to solve problems balancing information security and business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; both global organization and executive presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Report out to AO Division Data Office
  • Work with corporate IAP contacts to deploy company-driven strategy and initiatives throughout AO’s worldwide locations.
  • Establish, Lead and guide plant IAP information security at various plant locations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive assessment of our information security vulnerability within our locations. Create standardized IAP and IS audit process and institute across division.
  • Develop and maintain an IAP strategy that drives continuous improvement of the IAP and IS capability organizationally, technically, and culturally.
  • Develop, manage and drive IAP governance to ensure IS standards, Global program initiatives and Global metrics are being implemented, maintained, improved and sustained.
  • Leverage corporate IAP team to help develop & deploy IS improvement training that appropriately targets all levels of the organization: Business Leadership, Manufacturing Leadership, and all aspects of Manufacturing Operations/Engineering and Functional Groups.
  • Coordinate with corporate team to address any mitigation efforts required due to information security and/or IAP breaches.
  • Work with engineering & technology teams on new programs which require information security architecture to be developed to protect key trade secrets. (As identified in equipment, SOPs, drawings & area access which are all in scope)
  • Leads coordination of customer cybersecurity requirements, internal control alignment, and cross-functional readiness to ensure the Division can consistently meet client security expectations and contractual commitments as applicable
  • Work with technology teams during equipment installations to review IAP plans and ensure that all key threats have been identified and mitigated.
  • Work with Procurement to ensure that IAP and IS initiatives are deployed with 3rd party vendors.
  • Develop appropriate network of contacts and work with IS, IT, Security & HR organizations to manage specific risks, lead improvements.
  • Institute division IAP policies which complement corporate policies and guidelines
  • Collaborate with other divisions as well as industry to identify IAP and IS best practices.
