About The Position

Imperial is seeking an Integrity Engineer (EIT) to join their Cold Lake operation in the Upstream division. This role involves leading integrity programs for pipelines and piping in the field. The Cold Lake operation is an in-situ oil sands operation in northern Alberta, utilizing and piloting next-generation solvent technologies to improve production and lower greenhouse gas emissions intensity. It is one of the longest-running oil sands operations in northeastern Alberta and one of the largest in-situ thermal operations globally, supplying refineries across Canada and the United States. The site has approximately 400 employees and 1,000 contractors.

Requirements

  • Canadian accredited (or equivalent) engineering degree
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Able to work individually, as well as in a team situation, with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Work with multi-functional engineering, operations, and maintenance teams, both in Canada and overseas, to support pipeline and piping integrity programs in the field, including over 800 pipelines (above-ground and buried).
  • Develop integrity programs and inspection plans, including In-Line Inspection (ILI) on piggable pipelines.
  • Review failure mechanisms and complete root cause failure analysis.
  • Work with operations and maintenance teams to plan work and ensure annual preventative maintenance is completed.
  • Respond to Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) reportable incidents, including repair scope and investigation, and communicate with AER during investigation and repair work.
  • Ensure licensing of current and new pipelines is up to date in coordination with the regulatory group.
  • Attend technical training and conferences for growth opportunities such as training, mentorship, studies/projects, team lead roles, and other engineering or asset team roles.
