Integrations Engineer, AI Services

Virtuous•Madison, MS

About The Position

Virtuous is hiring a builder to join its Customer Experience organization and deliver high-impact, productized integration and AI solutions for nonprofit customers. The role is modeled on a Forward Deployed Engineer: the engineer owns the full engagement lifecycle, from customer discovery and solution design through implementation, delivery, documentation, and iteration. The role also helps turn customer-specific work into repeatable, scalable offerings for a new marketplace. The engineer embeds with nonprofit customers to understand their data ecosystems, operational workflows, and integration gaps. They build integrations and human-in-the-loop AI applications, as well as shared infrastructure for authentication, logging, monitoring, error handling, and API and webhook management. They document solutions as products, identify opportunities to package and sell them to multiple customers, and help shape the AI Services catalog. This is a revenue-generating role: the engineer partners with the Services team to scope and price engagements, delivers against statements of work, and contributes to revenue reporting and pricing feedback. They also provide structured product feedback to EPD and collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation to identify customers who could benefit from Services offerings. The role has direct influence over how Virtuous establishes and develops its AI Services function.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on technical work in a customer-facing environment, with direct ownership of integration design and delivery.
  • Production experience building API integrations, ETL pipelines, and webhook-driven automation, including writing code rather than only configuring tools.
  • Ability to work across the full solution lifecycle: discovery, design, build, testing, deployment, and documentation.
  • Experience building and deploying AI-assisted workflows, including LLM integration and human-in-the-loop application design.
  • Experience in cloud services environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical architecture to nonprofit executives.
  • Deep understanding of nonprofit operations, fundraising workflows, or the nonprofit CRM space.
  • A builder's instinct and ability to systematize repeatable problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct Virtuous CRM experience as a customer, implementer, or developer building against the Virtuous API.
  • Experience with caging, mail-processing, or phone-operations integrations in a nonprofit context.
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud or other nonprofit CRM migrations.
  • Backend development experience in SQL, Python, Node.js, or similar, particularly for data transformation and pipeline logic.
  • Experience building and maintaining production monitoring dashboards and audit-logging infrastructure.
  • A portfolio of solutions built and maintained by the candidate.

  • Design and implement integration pipelines between Virtuous and external systems, including accounting and ERP platforms, caging and mail-processing systems, event software, and phone operations.
  • Build human-in-the-loop AI applications that present data for staff review and action while reducing manual effort and preserving data quality.
  • Develop shared solution infrastructure, including authentication, logging, monitoring, error handling, and API and webhook management.
  • Use AI-assisted development deliberately, defining problem spaces so AI can reliably generate conformant, high-quality code.
  • Document solutions rigorously, identify patterns, and develop frameworks and playbooks to make future engagements faster.
  • Identify solutions suitable for packaging and sale to multiple customers, and partner with CX leadership to shape the AI Services catalog.
  • Scope and price engagements with the Services team, deliver against statements of work, and contribute to revenue reporting and pricing and packaging feedback.
  • Provide structured product feedback to EPD based on patterns observed across customer integrations.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation to identify customers who could benefit from Services offerings.
