Integration & Test Engineer II

Relativity Space•Long Beach, CA
•$104,000 - $156,000

About The Position

Relativity Space is developing the Terran R launch vehicle to serve growing demand for launch capacity and enable future scientific and commercial opportunities. The Integration team brings together vehicle and manufacturing teams to deliver flight-ready vehicles, establishing manufacturing, test, and quality-control processes. Integration Engineers with a mechanical focus integrate propulsion, avionics, and structural components and subassemblies into verified rocket stages. The team also helps establish the manufacturing and business practices needed for Terran R’s first build and test. The Integration & Test Engineer II contributes to and takes partial ownership of the Thrust Structure Integrated Assembly, including secondary structures, fluids, avionics, engine installation, and test checkouts before S1 mate. The role drives assembly integration from design reviews and work-instruction creation through process and tooling development and test. It provides hands-on support during build and test, resolves issues, incorporates technician feedback, and improves hardware flow and processes. The engineer coordinates with partner teams, manages non-compliance solutions, authors test procedures, and conducts tests to verify installed hardware and build integrity.

  • At least 2 years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures for building and checking out interdisciplinary structural and fluid assemblies.
  • Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel.
  • Experience planning and conducting tests for hazardous operations.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter to define and own a process from scratch and roll it out through effective communication to a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and take partial ownership of the Thrust Structure Integrated Assembly, including secondary structures, fluids, avionics, engine installation, and test checkouts prior to S1 mate.
  • Drive assembly integration through design reviews, work-instruction creation, process and tooling development, and testing.
  • Provide hands-on floor support during build and test, resolving issues in real time, incorporating technician feedback, and driving continuous improvement in hardware flow and processes.
  • Coordinate with Quality Engineering, Fluids Engineering, Production, Avionics, and Supply Chain to communicate schedule needs and drive deliveries for the assembly.
  • Problem-solve non-compliance events during assembly build and test, and manage solutions through completion.
