About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team engineers, you will design and build the Hardware and software test assets for our Lunar Lander. The test assets will provide an environment to integrate the electronics and software for system development, verification, and validation. This will include software simulations and hardware emulators, as well as software for interfacing with these simulators and emulators. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • 2 year Associates degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology, mechanical or similar discipline
  • 2+ years of industry experience with electrical/electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Current or expired harness assembly, crimping and soldering certifications (IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001, or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of digital circuits, analog circuits, computers, microprocessors, and networks
  • Experience assembling and handling small mechanical and electrical parts
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures
  • Assembly experience using small power tools and hand tools such as screw drivers, crimpers, and cutters
  • Proficient in the use of standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment
  • Experience with modeling and drafting engineering drawings using CREO (or equivalent)
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and desire for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate to thrive as a member of a tightly integrated team

Nice To Haves

  • PTC/CREO modelling and drafting experience.
  • Current or expired certification for Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies (IPC-7711B/7721B, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Order and track parts and materials for Component Test hardware assemblies and maintain a Component Test inventory tracking database
  • Kit materials for Component Test hardware assemblies and organize material transfers between storage, assembly areas and laboratories
  • Assemble Component Test electrical and mechanical systems using engineering drawings
  • Build, test and rework cable assemblies
  • Perform checkout and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies
  • Load software and drivers onto computers and instruments.
  • Update Component Test documentation and drawings using CREO/Windchill
  • Support the integration of flight avionics, ground support equipment, control consoles, and communication hardware
  • Support integrated system tests to perform flight software qualification and operator training
  • Modify Component Test configuration for system or subsystem level testing per engineering test procedures
  • Maintain a Component Tester calibration schedule, organize calibration activities and transfer calibrated hardware to-and-from outside calibration labs
