Integration Engineer (Duarte, CA)
About The Position
Hippocratic AI is seeking an Integration Engineer to bridge healthcare data systems with their clinical AI platform. This role involves working at the intersection of healthcare interoperability, system design, and data engineering. The engineer will connect EHRs, APIs, and analytics pipelines to enable the AI models to function at scale. Responsibilities include collaborating with delivery leads, product managers, and customer engineers to design and build reliable integrations using modern interoperability standards. The work will primarily involve Python-based data transformation and interface development, integrating with HL7 v2, FHIR, and RESTful APIs. Coordination with offshore engineers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions is also a key aspect. The role offers the opportunity to influence the integration framework, define reusable patterns, and enhance platform performance and reliability.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare integration or interoperability engineering.
- Strong understanding of HL7 v2, FHIR, and X12 standards.
- Hands-on experience with Python and at least one integration engine (Mirth, Rhapsody, InterSystems IRIS, or Redox).
- Comfortable working with RESTful APIs, JSON, and SQL.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong ownership mindset with attention to reliability, scalability, and quality.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with EHR APIs (Epic, Cerner, AthenaOne, or similar).
- Knowledge of FHIR bulk data workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), or cloud-based deployment pipelines.
- Background in AI/ML data pipelines or healthcare analytics.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain healthcare data integrations using Python, HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, and SQL.
- Collaborate with product and delivery teams to translate requirements into scalable, testable integration flows.
- Coordinate with offshore teams on implementation, review, and QA.
- Monitor and optimize performance across live integrations, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Contribute to reusable components and integration templates that improve delivery efficiency.
- Troubleshoot production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and ensure smooth resolution.
