Integration Engineer - III (REMOTE)
About The Position
VARITE is seeking a qualified Integration Engineer - III for a remote role. The client is a central banking system of the United States that manages monetary policy, regulates financial institutions, provides banking services, and acts as a lender of last resort during financial crises. VARITE, established in 2000, is an award-winning minority business enterprise providing global consulting & staffing services to Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies. This 15-month contract role, based remotely but with a physical location in Richmond, VA, focuses on designing, building, and maintaining integrations and custom applications connecting Workday and Ariba with internal and external systems. The position emphasizes modern integration practices using Workday Studio, Connectors, EIBs, Web Services, and Orchestrate, alongside custom app development in Workday Extend. Additionally, the role will support the transition to SAP Ariba’s Business Technology Platform (BTP), strengthening Ariba integration capacity and guiding the adoption of new capabilities. This is an opportunity to work in a mature ERP environment while shaping future platform innovation.
Requirements
- Expertise in web service/API technologies: WSDL, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, XSLT
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, Groovy, etc.)
- Experience with integration design and development for Cloud-based platforms
- 3-5 years of Workday integration development experience and/or 3-5 years of Ariba integration development experience
- Experience building Workday integrations using Studio, Cloud Connector, EIBs, Web Services (REST/SOAP) and Orchestration for Integrations
- Experience utilizing Ariba REST APIs, ITK, and Configuration Management
- Hands-on experience with both master and transactional data integrations
- Strong background in monitoring, alerting, and error handling for integrations
- Ability to work and coordinate with third parties on data-related inquiries
- Well-versed in Agile development methodologies including Kanban/Scrum
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain integrations between Workday/Ariba and external systems
- Develop and maintain custom Workday Extend applications
- Support integrations across Workday HCM, Payroll, Financials, and SAP Ariba
- Build and optimize Ariba master and transactional data integrations
- Collaborate with IT teams to deploy and monitor integrations
- Contribute to SAP Ariba BTP transition initiatives
- Apply software engineering principles to integration lifecycle management
- Provide on-call support and troubleshooting for integration environments
