About The Position

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking Integration and Test Engineers across multiple levels to contribute to their Directed Energy portfolio. The role involves integrating cutting-edge technology using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) for warfighters. The company is building new facilities for the next generation of laser and microwave systems, covering design, integration, assembly, testing, deployment, and sustainment. This position offers an opportunity to pioneer technology that will redefine the battlespace. The engineer will be central to the systems engineering lifecycle, leading integration efforts, executing testing, and validating system performance. Responsibilities include developing and executing detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules to ensure systems meet mission requirements with precision. Candidates not located in Knoxville, TN will be expected to relocate.

Requirements

Experience supporting government contracts.
Strong technical intuition and problem-solving skills.
Ability to anticipate system challenges and understand their broader programmatic impacts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including engagement with government stakeholders, company leadership, and multidisciplinary subject matter experts.
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Hands-on experience developing and executing system-level and component-level test plans, plus leading integration activities.
Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or Ph.D.

Background with defense hard-tech primes or major subs.
Hands-on experience with laser systems, power systems, or thermal/cooling systems.
Familiarity with system safety, reliability, and maintainability engineering.

Responsibilities

Lead system integration and verification/validation testing to ensure mission-ready performance.
Support technical planning and evaluations of alternatives including cost and risk, supportability, and manufacturability.
Communicate technical and programmatic updates with clarity and confidence.
Identify, articulate, and manage risks before they become roadblocks.
Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships.
Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineering teams to produce cohesive, innovative system designs.
