About The Position

We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada. Requirements

  • Ability to acquire the required provincial pesticide applicator or exterminator license.
  • Ability to work outside and in a range of weather conditions.
  • Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast paced, and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work away from home for shifts.
  • Attention to detail and data driven.
  • Candidate must be comfortable with regular travel for work purposes.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions.
  • Current and unrestricted Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract with less than 6 demerits.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Natural Resources, Forestry or Environmental. (asset)
  • 1 years’ experience in vegetation management would be considered an asset.
  • B.C Pesticide Applicator Certification (5 year), or provincial equivalent.
  • Ability to identify invasive plants is considered an asset.
  • Provincially relevant first aid or equivalent.
  • Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to assess vegetation health, growth patterns, and potential risks to infrastructure.
  • Use integrated methods (such as mechanical, chemical, and biological controls) to manage vegetation and prevent overgrowth.
  • Apply herbicides or other treatments as needed to control invasive species or vegetation that could interfere with infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate records of vegetation management activities, including treatment areas, products used, and results.
  • Select and implement appropriate management and control practices.
  • Promote awareness of invasive species and integrated vegetation management practices to the public on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collect and interpret vegetation population data and monitor control efficacy.
  • Complete job duties in physically strenuous and varying terrains.
  • Operate specialized equipment such as herbicide sprayers, chainsaws, brush cutters, and trucks.
  • Other duties as required.
