About The Position

This position will provide education, assessment, referral, recovery-oriented services, group work, and facilitation of follow-up services to residents of the program that are recovering from substance use and/or mental health disorders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related human or social services field, with a minimum of 1 years relevant work experience, or a combination of relevant training, work experience, and education.
  • Experience with facilitating recovery programming and conducting service planning with individuals experiencing substance use disorders.
  • A demonstrated and clear ability to respond well in crisis situations.
  • An understanding of providing service to people with different learning abilities.
  • Demonstrated an ability to deal with de-escalation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Universal understanding in various assessment tools.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Records Check for the vulnerable sector
  • Training and documentation of 20 hours or more in the following areas: Trauma informed practice, crisis intervention and conflict resolution, counselling, and/or psychosocial programming for substance use disorders.
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Willingness to obtain Food Safety Certificate within 1 month of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional registration with the CACCF, CCPA and BCACC is not required, but an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements case management of assigned residents (for example, supports with goal setting, monitors, and records progress).
  • Conducts recovery-oriented programming and group facilitation, including process, psychoeducational, skills-based and CBT orientated.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments, develops personal service plans and makes referrals to other programs or agencies as required.
  • Presents case reports and progress of residents at regularly scheduled team meetings; evaluates resident’s progress and makes modifications to personal service plans as required. Provides feedback and support to residents.
  • Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation related to residents and initiates any new documentation; completes all reports required by the ministry, organization and various stakeholders.
  • Develops and facilitates support groups for residents, implementing a programming schedule for residents
  • Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, ministries, health teams and the community.
  • Engages in the development and implementation of individual discharge planning through a reintegration process with each resident.
  • Maintains resident records and provides statistics and reports as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
