About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Integrated Mental Health Therapist II for their Puyallup Behavioral Health Clinic. This role functions as a core member of the Clinical Care Team within a medical setting, providing diagnostic assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, and case management in coordination with other treatment parties. The therapist will understand how chronic conditions, including substance use disorders and behavioral health concerns, impact medical needs, and how chronic medical conditions can lead to mental health issues. Responsibilities include educating staff on mental health referral processes and psychoeducational topics, maintaining documentation of mental health services, and ensuring strong communication with the medical clinic care team. The position requires meeting the criteria of a Mental Health Professional (MHP) and holding an active WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor License or Mental Health Associate License. Bilingual candidates in Spanish, Korean, Swahili, or Hindi are preferred. The specific level of the applicant hired will determine wages.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling, or social work, which includes coursework in psychological diagnostics.
  • Must have one to three (1-3) years of experience in the field.
  • Experience could be obtained before or after completion of a Master's degree.
  • Must meet the criteria of a Mental Health Professional (MHP).
  • Must hold and maintain an active WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor License (may be pending for up to 60 days if applied for within 7 days of being offered employment) or mental health Associate License (includes Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, and Clinical Social Worker).

Responsibilities

  • Provide brief, strength-based, and solution-focused services to adults, children, and families.
  • Assist with emotional and behavioral stabilization, including suicide prevention and de-escalation.
  • Refer patients for crisis services when needed.
  • Provide motivational-based wellness coaching.
  • Work with patients to create self-management goals.
  • Help patients increase their level of motivation to meet goals.
  • Provide diagnostic assessments.
  • Make referrals for psychiatric services.
  • Provide case management.
  • Coordinate with other teams or parties involved in treatment.
  • Educate staff on the process for mental health service referrals.
  • Educate staff on psychoeducational topics (suicide risk assessment, behavior modification, etc.) as directed by BH protocols.
  • Maintain documentation of mental health services.
  • Follow through in patient charts with strong emphasis on communication with the care team located in the medical clinic.
