About The Position

The Intake Worker II for Dane County will provide oversight and coordination of all clients, intake staff, volunteers, and activities. Manages, coordinates, and oversees all shift operations, taking appropriate action to facilitate efficient operation involving program participants, staff, property and supportive services. Adjusts shelter advocate schedules. Trains and assists staff and volunteers regarding policies, procedures and record keeping. Provide input to management on shelter advocate performance. Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents. Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities. Provides necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed. Assist with client needs, refer to case manager as appropriate. Provide de-escalation and crisis response. Answers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate. Maintain cleanliness of shelter common areas. Assist with food service preparations and serving. Ensures shift is documented according to procedures. Performs room inspections. Supervises volunteers, when assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years’ experience in Human Services desired
  • One year of experience working with the homeless population.

  • Associates degree preferred
  • Management experience helpful
