About The Position

Compass Family Services is seeking an Intake Specialist to join their Resource Center team. This role is crucial in supporting families experiencing or at risk of homelessness by conducting initial intake interviews, determining program eligibility, and providing essential information and referrals. The Intake Specialist will also collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operations of the Resource Center, which offers services such as basic goods, service referrals, case management, job search support, childcare, and support groups.

Requirements

Understanding of trauma-informed care and issues facing homeless families.
Knowledge of San Francisco social service resources.
Experience working in crisis situations; ability to assess and de-escalate situations quickly.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Outstanding work habits: strong communication skills, reliable, team-oriented, organized.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
Able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Salesforce experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct initial intake interviews with families to understand their needs.
Determine program eligibility and provide information and referrals to families.
Collaborate with the Family Resource Center team to ensure smooth operations.
Train and mentor interns and volunteers on intake and drop-in best practices.
Assess emerging family needs, identify trends, and maintain updated resources.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records in the Salesforce database.
Organize and manage client records for consistency and quality assurance.
Support Distribution Center operations, including inventory management and distribution of basic needs items.
