About The Position
The Intake Specialist - Home Medical Equipment role is a full-time position responsible for educating patients on the proper use of equipment and/or services, verifying insurance coverage, obtaining pre-certifications, researching reimbursement data for clean claims, and confirming equipment deliveries. This role requires strong communication skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate billing and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2 years' experience in a medical retail, medical office setting or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Responsibilities
- Educates patients on the proper use of equipment and/or services offered.
- Verifies primary payers for coverage criteria and communicates any financial obligation to the customer.
- Obtains initial pre-certification or authorization for prescribed equipment and/or services as dictated by patient's insurance.
- Researches qualifying reimbursement data in effort to create initial clean claims for third party payers.
- Confirms all deliveries of equipment and/or services in the billing system monthly.
