About The Position

The Human Relations Commission (HRC) Intake Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking assistance with discrimination complaints, landlord-tenant issues, and rental or utility assistance. This role involves gathering essential information about complaints, conducting preliminary evaluations, clearly explaining the process to complainants, and identifying the correct jurisdiction for each case. The position reports to the HRC Executive Director.

Requirements

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
Microsoft Office Suite experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access)
Must type at 35 wpm with accuracy.

Nice To Haves

Associates degree or any relevant professional experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Explain the intake process to the complainant in understandable terms and provide relevant written materials.
Collect and record all pertinent information from the potential complainant relating to the alleged acts of discrimination.
Analyze the information to determine whether or not a formal complaint should be filed.
Prepare formalized charges of discrimination and supporting documents in an efficient and concise manner.
Maintain a log of formalized charges and other important data necessary for required reporting.
Maintains files, reports, and logbooks for the HRC.
Provides administrative support, including but not limited to (process mail, answer telephone, handle complaints, and provide information) as applicable.
Order and maintain an inventory of supplies.
Prepare bills and/or invoices for the Commission office.
Data entry into various systems including HMIS and ARC.
Provide support and assist by scheduling/conducting intakes for the various grant programs run by the HRC such as rental/utility assistance or the hardship program.
Participate in outreach events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
