About The Position

The Intake Screener independently manages inquiries, performs admission assessments, and provides information to individuals seeking services offered at Rogers Behavioral Health (Rogers). This role involves evaluating incoming inquiries, completing admission assessments, gathering demographic and insurance information, and ensuring all documentation is accurately entered into the designated system. The Intake Screener also collaborates with internal and external departments, adheres to department performance standards, and connects potential patients with outside resources when necessary. Additionally, the position requires participation in an on-call schedule, adherence to policies and procedures of external regulatory agencies, and promotion of department goals and the mission of Rogers Behavioral Health.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a health care setting strongly preferred
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Completion of required trainings under Rogers’ policies.
  • Computer skills (including but not limited to: utilizing multiple platforms, Microsoft applications, basic troubleshooting) required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (in human services related field)
  • Electronic medical record software experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming inquiries to determine and explain the next step to accessing care at Rogers.
  • Complete Admission assessments with potential patients and/or their representatives.
  • Demonstrate understanding and explanation of admitting processes.
  • Understand clinical criteria necessary for admission to Rogers’ programs.
  • Describe levels of care within Rogers to potential patients and/or their representatives.
  • Gather demographic and insurance information of potential patients and/or responsible representatives.
  • Understand how to utilize and explain Rogers’ contracted payor listing.
  • Complete all documentation steps for each inquiry and assessment.
  • Ensure all inquiries are entered in the designated system and all necessary information is captured.
  • Ensure referral source information is obtained and entered for each inquiry.
  • Ensure all clinical information is entered accurately into admission assessment tool.
  • Adhere to department standards as it relates to performance measures.
  • Ensure quality of call meets department standards.
  • Ensure productivity meets department standards.
  • Connect potential patients and/or their representative with outside resources when indicated.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external facilities/referents as it relates access to care.
  • Participate in the On-Call, weekend, and holiday schedule, as assigned.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Admissions leadership.
  • Understand and apply policies and procedures in accordance with external regulatory agencies: Including, but not limited to: Joint Commission, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA), 42 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other regulatory agency compliance regulations.
  • Attend and participate in development opportunities to increase involvement and awareness of regulations.
  • Comply with Rogers culture agreements and all Hospital’s policies and procedures.
