The Intake RN will provide professional nursing care to patients according to hospital policy and procedure. This includes assessing patient care needs, planning and implementing nursing care procedures, evaluating patient progress, and modifying care plans as necessary. The role also involves providing teaching to patients and their families, and directing the work of nursing support staff through appropriate delegation and supervision. Duties include facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules, evaluating patient progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary professionals to determine the best possible care. The Intake RN is responsible for maintaining a safe environment, providing social support, conducting intake assessments through interviews, making nursing diagnoses, and consulting with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff. The role involves administering and noting reactions to medications, arranging further medical attention, and assisting clients in understanding their conditions and the need for treatment. Accurate record-keeping of patient activities, progress, and confidentiality is essential, along with compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures. The position requires using professional judgment for crisis intervention and assisting in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Testing for vital signs of pain and ensuring treatments of pain are also key responsibilities. Documentation on medical charts, following physician's orders, and performing administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and typing are also part of the role.
