About The Position

The Intake Representative verifies detailed benefits and authorization requirements for a high volume of permanent and transient patients. The role requires attention to detail, multitasking, and a sense of urgency. The representative also updates patient and account information, coordinates with facility and office personnel, and helps ensure accurate and timely billing.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology and government and private insurer rules and regulations.
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and working knowledge of the Internet for business use.
Research and exceptional organization skills to manage a large patient load.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of various health insurance programs and the medical insurance industry.
Previous experience verifying detailed insurance benefits and authorization requirements.

Responsibilities

Verify correct patient information, including insurance benefits and authorization requirements for permanent and transient patients.
Submit required authorizations in a timely manner and follow up on determinations when needed.
Update patient information promptly to avoid billing-cycle delays.
Contact admissions team members and/or clinical personnel to obtain missing or incorrect information during initial verification.
Verify data accuracy and update accounts based on weekly audits.
Update patient accounts with newly acquired information and notify appropriate personnel when claims require rebilling or voiding and regeneration.
Keep up to date on coordination of benefits (COB) rules according to insurance guidelines and requirements.
Maintain professional working relationships with facility and office staff and develop effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
