About The Position

Heritage Oaks Hospital is seeking an Assessment & Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. The Admissions Nurse is a Staff RN responsible for ensuring the admission process is carried out properly. The RN utilizes the nursing process and adheres to established standards of care, mental health practices, and hospital policy, goals, and objectives. This position also ensures that admissions are managed in a timely and courteous manner. The role involves conducting and documenting direct and comprehensive assessments for patients to determine dispositions, participating in screening patients for admission into hospital programs using pre-approved admissions criteria, and reviewing referrals to determine appropriateness for patient admission criteria with assistance from policy and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required.
• Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
• Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.
• CPR certification required.
• Successful completion of the hospital’s designated physical and behavioral management training program, including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint, required prior to assisting in the procedures.

Nice To Haves

• A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.
