Position Summary As an Intake Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Blackbird Health, you'll play an essential role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric intake evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. You'll build meaningful connections with patients and families from the very start of their care journey, spending the necessary time to understand their needs and educate them about care options. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, you'll be empowered to make a tangible difference in the lives of young patients and their families from day one.

Requirements

  • Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week during our peak "after school hours" defined as after 4pm ET during the week or any time on weekends
  • Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program, PMHNP-BC certification, and at least one year of independent psychiatric experience working under licensure
  • Active Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey PMHNP, DEA license, and State Prescriptive Authority

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Comprehensive Intake Evaluations: Conduct thorough psychiatric intake evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. Develop individualized treatment plans that establish a strong clinical foundation for each patient's ongoing care journey.
  • Build Meaningful First Connections: Spend the necessary time with patients and families to truly understand their experiences and educate them about treatment options available at Blackbird. Build trust and connection that sets patients up for long-term engagement in care.
  • Drive Strong Clinical Matches: Assess each patient thoroughly and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure every patient is connected to the right ongoing provider and treatment approach. Take the necessary steps to keep patients safe, intervening proactively when concerns arise.
  • Collaborate for Integrated Care: Work closely with therapists and other healthcare professionals to create coordinated treatment plans that address the whole child. Participate in weekly team and supervisory clinical meetings to ensure high-quality, seamless care transitions.
  • Educate & Empower Families: Provide consultation and education to patients and their families during the intake process, helping them understand diagnoses, treatment options, and how to support their child's mental health journey.
  • Ensure Clinical Excellence & Compliance: Oversee diagnostic testing including digital and lab results. Maintain thorough, HIPAA-compliant intake documentation. Perform other clinical-related activities as assigned.
