About The Position

Blackbird Health is looking for a part-time Intake Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join their interdisciplinary team. The role involves delivering comprehensive psychiatric intake evaluations and treatment planning for children, adolescents, and young adults, connecting patients to the right ongoing care from the start of their journey. The position is for clinicians licensed in PA, VA, NJ, or MD.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • PMHNP-BC certification
  • At least one year of independent psychiatric experience working under licensure
  • Active license in PA, VA, NJ, or MD
  • DEA license and State Prescriptive Authority
  • Proficient in Google Suite, EMR systems, and virtual platforms for telehealth.
  • Flexibility to work during core after-school hours (after 4pm ET) and/or weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children and adolescents as a PMHNP
  • Practiced independently at the top of your scope for at least one year.
  • Excel at building trust quickly with families and providing thorough patient education during the intake process.
  • Thrive in team-based environments alongside therapists and interdisciplinary colleagues, ensuring seamless handoffs to ongoing care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric intake evaluations and treatment planning for children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for the 2–26 age range, establishing a strong clinical foundation for each patient's care journey.
  • Collaborate with therapists to develop individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of behavior and ensure patients are matched to the right ongoing provider.
  • Educate parents and caregivers during the intake process, helping them understand their child's diagnosis and navigate next steps in their mental health journey.
  • Oversee diagnostic testing and maintain thorough, HIPAA-compliant intake documentation.
