The Intake Operator III position is responsible for receiving milk from milk haulers and truckers, ensuring quality of milk through samples, testing and proper sanitation, handling and storage. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience required; in-house training provided.
  • Milk Weigher and Sampler licenses; in-house training and certification test provided.
  • Charm Reader Certifications; in-house training provided.
  • Pasteurization Certifications; in-house training and certification test provided.
  • Able to exchange basic informational data (fill out forms/checklists, copy data from one record to another, etc.); interview to gather information; advise others on alternatives/options; coach and counsel others; read, understand and explain technical data.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, quality and cleanliness in work.
  • Follow one- or two-step verbal instructions; read and follow written instructions; perform routine and repetitive tasks and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge, ability to learn new skills quickly, and achieve a high level of accomplishment.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow documents and procedures (GLP, SOP, MSDS, GMP, test procedures, and HACCP).
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently load out milk, cream and whey from trucks.
  • Properly set up and stage incoming loads of condensed and ultra-filtered (UF) milk.
  • Verify load paperwork for accuracy.
  • Coordinate milk volumes and movement to ensure proper silo rotation and wash cycles.
  • Wash floor in the Intake and areas leading into Intake per GMP specifications.
  • Maintain and wash tanks, silos and intake product lines per GMP specifications.
  • Clean-In-Place (CIP) trucks and wash manhole area, gaskets caps, and vents.
  • Complete tasks as required on Master Sanitation Schedules.
  • Monitor chemicals for cleaning and replace as needed.
  • Record milk inventory, truck wash seals and other necessary documentation.
  • Set and read cow samples.
  • Sample and test incoming milk loads for antibiotics per GMP specifications.
  • Adhere correct bar codes to samples as needed.
  • Work with cheese plant vat and HTST operators in everyday operations.
  • Operate silos for proper milk agitation and cooling.
  • Attend to incoming cream loads and monitor cream tanks as needed.
  • Process milk slips and complete paperwork at the end of the night and take to the appropriate locations.
  • Notify Laboratory personnel as needed.
  • Assist in training new employees as directed by Supervisor.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing and Sanitation Practices.
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
  • Support safety policies and programs.
