About The Position

The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates the enormously visible Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program, whose participants clean over 115 miles of streets and sidewalks every day. We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience with criminal justice or homeless population, or ability and desire to learn and adjust quickly to the population
  • Excellent Client contact skills, including a dedication to treating all Clients with dignity and respect
  • Computer Proficiency (must master two databases, and position relies heavily on email contact)
  • Must be an independent worker, and able to navigate varying situations without onsite Supervisory support

Responsibilities

  • Meet with every new Client to introduce program structure, guidelines, and expectations
  • Orient Client to new surroundings, provide initial bedding and toiletries
  • Complete detailed interview and paper intake with the Client
  • Enter all intake information into two databases (CARES & TDF Database)
  • Construct an initial Independent Living Plan (ILP) with every new Client
  • Assist with House Management duties whenever possible, including digital bed management, urine collection for toxicology, building rounds, etc.
