About The Position

Sierra Vista is seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Licensed Intake Assessor to join our Admissions team on the night shift. The Licensed Intake Assessor is responsible for conducting behavioral health assessments, determining the appropriate level of care, coordinating admissions, and collaborating with referral sources, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and quality patient care. This position serves as the first clinical point of contact for individuals seeking behavioral health services and plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Active Colorado license required, including one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Must be 21 or older

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of behavioral health assessment or psychiatric intake experience preferred.
  • Experience in inpatient psychiatric, crisis stabilization, emergency department, or acute behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of crisis assessment, and suicide risk evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health and suicide risk assessments for prospective patients.
  • Determine appropriate level of care based on clinical presentation, medical necessity, and facility admission criteria.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nursing staff, and treatment teams regarding admission decisions.
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and referrals to appropriate services.
  • Communicate effectively with hospitals, emergency departments, law enforcement, community providers, and family members.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Verify insurance information and collaborate with utilization review when applicable.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and referral options.
  • Support a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
