Requirements

• Active independent licensure (LSW)
• 2+ years acute behavioral health or crisis evaluation experience.
• Expertise in risk assessment, de‑escalation, and payer authorization processes.
• Must be 21 or older

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations on incoming patients
• Evaluate patients in acute psychiatric crisis
• Determine level of risk (e.g., suicidal ideation, psychosis, aggression)
• Implement immediate safety measures if needed
• Decide urgency of admission or need for higher level care
• Determine if the patient meets criteria for inpatient psychiatric admission
• Recommend appropriate placement: Inpatient psych unit, Partial hospitalization (PHP), Intensive outpatient (IOP)
• Collaborate with psychiatrists or providers for final decisions
• Communicate with: Physicians/psychiatrists, Social workers and case managers, Emergency departments, law enforcement, or family members
• Gather collateral information to support assessment
