About The Position

Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital is seeking an empathetic and dedicated Intake Assessment Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in positively impacting the mental well-being of individuals by assisting in the process of receiving, scheduling, and referring inquiry calls. The technician will support A&R Clinicians, Coordinators, and the Director with coordinating assessments, initiating intake paperwork, and gathering insurance information to ensure a smooth transition into the admission process. Additionally, the role involves monitoring to ensure patient safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving referral calls, obtaining minimal demographic information, and referring the call to the appropriate source or scheduling an assessment.
  • Processing all requests for information and external referrals.
  • Completing pre-certifications as needed.
  • Arranging for admission of patients, including alerting business office staff to begin benefit verification, initiating calls to physicians, and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manager.
  • Determining and processing necessary Releases of Information per policy.
  • Assisting in obtaining needed records and information.
  • Maintaining all statistics; providing support to the Outcome Study and other data as assigned.
  • Maintaining good communication with Utilization Review, Business Office, and other indicated staff.
  • Maintaining a log of received calls and their disposition, and other assigned informational tools.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers, practicing good customer service standards.
