About The Position

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage referrals for admissions, including during day, evening, night, holiday, and weekend shifts. Key duties include screening referrals for appropriateness, offering information and referral services for those who are not eligible or when beds are unavailable, communicating referral details internally, and maintaining referral and admission statistics.

Requirements

• Understanding of Code of Virginia relating to child mental health issues
• Good interpersonal skills/ability to relate to a variety of community agency representatives
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Proficient with the use of computers
• Knowledge & understanding of CSA and mental health resources for children and adolescents
• Fingerprint-based criminal history check and reference checks are required for the selected candidate for this position.
• Under Virginia Code §37.2-314 and 37.2-408.1, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is prohibited from employing or using as volunteers, persons who have been convicted of specific “barrier” crimes or persons who may be the subject of pending “barrier” charges.

Nice To Haves
