About The Position

The Intake Admission Clinician manages referrals and service requests, assesses individuals of all ages, and collaborates with physicians for appropriate care decisions. They assist with discharge planning under the Director of Admissions and Referrals and are the primary community contact, providing essential resources and support. Additionally, they support the case management program. This role involves documenting and processing inquiry calls, conducting patient triage for appropriate placement or referral, assessing and stabilizing patients, notifying and assisting the on-call doctor, obtaining administrative approval for admissions, completing admission paperwork, and maintaining an intake log. The position also includes making follow-up calls and demonstrating guest relations.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Masters Degree in a human relations field required, clinical, clinician, social worker.
  • At least two (2) years experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, including customer contact.
  • Knowledge of the latest DSM and Mental Status Exam and the Addiction and Recovery field.
  • Licensed to practice in Illinois as a mental health professional is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably two or more years experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting.

  • Maintains an intake log with all necessary information documented.
  • Makes follow-up calls to patients who fail to show up for appointments.
  • Demonstrates guest relations by example and counsels employees in need of training.
