About The Position

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) programming team is pleased to announce the InsurTech Summer Immersion, presented in partnership with two dynamic industry leaders, CNA and Guidewire Software. This highly competitive, three-and-a-half-day immersive experience will bring top-performing sophomores and juniors to Chicago, Illinois, for an in-depth exploration of the rapidly evolving InsurTech industry. Participants will gain valuable insight into how commercial insurance, artificial intelligence, and software development intersect to drive innovation across the sector. The InsurTech Summer Immersion is designed to expand students’ knowledge of the commercial insurance landscape, including underwriting, claims operations, legal and regulatory considerations, and enterprise software development. Through curated learning sessions and executive engagement, students will discover how diverse academic majors align with dynamic career pathways within the InsurTech ecosystem. Selected participants will experience the corporate cultures of CNA and Guidewire firsthand, while company leaders will have a unique opportunity to engage with high-achieving HBCU sophomores and juniors who represent the next generation of industry talent. Throughout the program, CNA and Guidewire will host interactive panel discussions focused on careers in insurance, technology, and innovation. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect directly with executives and senior leaders, fostering meaningful exposure, mentorship, and potential pathways to future internships and careers. CNA is one of the largest U.S. commercial property and casualty insurance companies. Backed by more than 120 years of experience, CNA provides a broad range of standard and specialized insurance products and services for businesses and professionals in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Guidewire Software, Inc., commonly Guidewire, is a global software company based in San Mateo, California. It offers an industry software platform for property and casualty insurance carriers in the U.S. and worldwide. This program is now accepting applications from full-time students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs) who are interested in learning more about the InsurTech Industry, AI, and software development. Students selected must be available to participate during the entire innovation challenge from June 15th - 18th, 2026.

Requirements

• Enrolled full-time in an accredited HBCU or PBI
• Must be in good academic standing with no disciplinary infractions
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
• Demonstrates the ability to work well on a team
• Must be willing to travel to Chicago, Illinois, June 15th-18th, 2026
• Willing to grow and learn in a collaborative environment
