About The Position

The Insurance Verifier will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits and coverages for patients, calculating estimated patient responsibility, and arranging payment plans for upcoming procedures. This role requires effective communication with physicians' offices, patients, and other facility staff to gather accurate information. The Insurance Verifier will enter, correct, and verify patient demographics and financial billing information in the practice management system and patient records, ensuring all verifications are completed accurately and at least three days prior to the date of service. The role also involves maintaining up-to-date Health Stream education, participating in staff meetings, and assisting with new staff orientation.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • Minimum of one year of experience in business office activities within a healthcare environment
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communications in English for contacting payors, patients, and co-workers
  • Demonstrated computer skills in utilizing word processing, integrated database, and understanding of mathematical calculations and medical terminology
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions that result in having to re-evaluate priorities
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Detail-oriented
  • Must be able to verify insurance in a timely manner
  • Always on time for work and attendance is within company policy guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance benefits and coverages for patients.
  • Calculate estimated patient responsibility.
  • Arrange payment plans with patients for upcoming procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance payors, Center's staff, physicians and their staff, patients and their families.
  • Enter, correct, and verify patient demographics and financial billing information in the practice management system and patient record.
  • Ensure insurance verification is completed accurately and at least three days prior to the date of service.
  • Ensure authorization forms are in the medical record prior to the date of service.
  • Contact patients to communicate patient responsibility due on the date of service.
  • Verify a minimum of thirty-five accounts daily.
  • Maintain up-to-date Health Stream education.
  • Participate in regular departmental staff meetings and facility-wide meetings.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff.
